STEPHEN O'CONNOR will be teaching at a writers retreat in Thessaloniki, Greece this coming May. His workshop, Fiction: Fact and Fable, will focus on the complex role of fact in fiction, via the discussion of student work and published texts. Questions taken up include: How do I make imaginary people and events feel real? When is it important to be true to fact? When should I abandon fact entirely? How do I research? When should I start? When do I stop? Is the author's vision supreme? The retreat includes workshops, faculty presentations, private writing time, social events and a trip to Mount Olympus!
